Good Person Test

 God's Law

Are you a good person? You, your family, friends or co-workers may think so, but what about God? Would He say you are a good person? And how good is good enough? Have you ever wondered if you have been "good enough" to make it into heaven? Just as any good parent would, God gave us rules to live by. You may know them as the Ten Commandments or God's Law. This test takes you through those rules to see how you will do when you face God at the moment of your death.  Will you be found innocent or guilty of breaking God's Law? Have you been "good enough"?  Take the test and find out. Your answers will not go anywhere. They are for your reference only, so please be honest. Your eternal life depends on it.

  1. Have you ever loved anyone or anything more than you love God? Do days go by that you don't even think about God?

    Yes No

  2. Have you ever worshipped anyone or anything but the One True God? Put more trust in yourself, friends, money, or possessions than God? Ever tried to make God into something more likable to you? That's idolatry!

    Yes No

  3. Have you ever used God's name in vain? "Oh my G$&!" or worse as a cuss word? That's blasphemy.

    Yes No

  4. Have you ever neglected the Sabbath? Have you missed church any this year?

    Yes No

  5. Have you ever dishonored your parents? Lied to them, disobeyed them, ignored the phone when they called?

    Yes No

  6. Have you ever murdered or felt hatred towards someone? God says that feeling hatred for someone in your heart is the same as murder in His eyes.

    Yes No

  7. Have you ever committed adultery? Jesus said that if you lust after someone you have committed adultery with them in your heart. Ever had sex outside of marriage or lusted?

    Yes No

  8. Have you ever stolen anything, even something very small? Held up a liquor store, cheated on a test or took a few bucks from your parents? Ever found something that belonged to another and kept it? That makes you a thief.

    Yes No

  9. Have you ever told a lie, even a "little white lie"? It takes one lie to uncover your potential for dishonesty and deception in God's eyes. One lie makes you a liar.

    Yes No

  10. Have you ever jealously wanted something that belonged to another? Had bad feelings for someone that got something you did not: cool game, boyfriend or girlfriend, job, better car, better grade? Most of us fail this one before our first birthday.

    Yes No

Now look back at your answers. How did you do? If you answered YES to even one of these questions, then in God's eyes you have failed. (James 2:10)  In reality though, you have probably broken many of the commandments many many times. Let's say you only break God's law (sin) once a day, that is 365 sins a year. Multiply that by how old you are. As you can see, on Judgment Day the list will be very long and you will be in serious trouble. The book of your life will come out and EVERY sin will be brought to light, even the ones you thought were hidden. The Bible says, "Man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment." (Hebrews 9:27) So, in God's eyes, are you a good person? If you died today, would you be sentenced to Hell or allowed into Heaven?

Now, you might think that God is just going to overlook your sins and let you into Heaven anyway. But, what would you think of a judge who just let criminals go, especially if the crime was against YOU? Not much! Picture this, you are in court. The man who robbed and assaulted your family member is on trial. The judge is ready to pass sentence, but the criminal says, "Your Honor, sure I am guilty of these crimes BUT I am sorry and I also give to the poor and go to church on Christmas and Easter. You should let me go."  Should the judge let that criminal go? Not if he is a good and honest judge. Commit the crime, do the time as they say. Why would anyone expect God to just overlook crimes (sins) against Him? Rest assured, He will not.

Of course, you might also be thinking, "Hey, I'm young! I've got lots of time to deal with God." Do you? According to the CDC, young is not an advantage. In 2005, over 30,000 people between 15 and 24 died in the United States. About 2 out of every 5 of those died in auto accidents. You just never know and it is not worth the risk! source
